Scientific and Educational School of Monetary and Credit Relations

The Scientific and Educational School of Monetary and Credit Relations is historically one of the earliest and most powerful scientific schools of KNEU, which has had a significant impact on the development of banking and banking education in Ukraine from the beginning of its foundation to the present.  Throughout its existence, the school has been one of the leading scientific and methodological centers in the field of banking, acting as a coordinator and main executor of scientific topics on the problems of monetary circulation, credit, and banking. The scientific school carries out scientific research in areas that have tremendous scientific, theoretical, methodological, and practical role.

The founders of the scientific and educational school, which was established at the Department of Monetary Circulation and Credit at KNEU in the mid-1940s, are Doctor of Economics, Prof. V.E. Vlasenko, Doctor of Economics, Prof. M.T. Berkov, Candidate of Economics, Prof. V.M.  Fedorenko and Candidate of Economics, Prof. K.G.  Zullas The founders of the school are Doctor of Economics, Prof. M.I.  Savluk and Doctor of Economics, Prof. A.M. Moroz. The followers of the school are, in particular, the current head of the Department of Banking and Insurance Doctor of Economics, Prof. L.O. Prymostka and Doctor of Economics, Prof. I.B. Ivasiv, Doctor of Economics, Prof. S.M. Arzhevitin, Doctor of Economics, Prof. I.V. Krasnova, Doctor of Economics, Prof. N.V . Tsyganova, Doctor of Economics, Prof. R.V. Kornylyuk. 

The total number of specialists conducting scientific research in the school's areas unites over 50 researchers from KNEU and other scientific institutions and higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

Key research areas of the scientific and educational school of Monetary and Credit Relations of KNEU:

  • the role of money and credit in the socio-economic development of Ukraine;
  • the central bank and monetary policy;
  • structural and functional transformations in the field of financial intermediation;
  • increasing the role of the banking system in the economic and social development of Ukraine;
  • regulation of banking activities in the context of globalisation and integration of financial markets;
  • financial and credit support for the innovative development of the economy of Ukraine;
  • systemic risks, macroprudential policy and hedging of financial risks;
  • theory and practice of risk-oriented management of financial and credit institutions;
  • anti-crisis management and banking security;
  • financial analytics in the activities of banking and non-banking credit institutions;
  • digital banking, financial innovations, crypto assets;
  • financial inclusion and the role of banks in increasing the financial literacy of the population in the context of digitalisation of banking activities.

The Scientific and Educational School of Monetary and Credit Relations has a high status and throughout its existence has occupied a leading position in the system of higher education and science of Ukraine. The Scientific and Educational School of Monetary and Credit Relations fulfilled an important mission during the years of development of the monetary and banking system of independent Ukraine in carrying out the monetary reform of 1996, and in the formation of educational, professional and scientific directions in higher education. Professors of the Department of Banking are periodically involved by the central executive authorities and the National Bank of Ukraine in solving important problems of the state's monetary and economic policy.
