In 2026, Yuliia Herneho, Professor of the Department of Corporate Finance and Controlling, became one of the Ukrainian scholars to conduct research in the United States with the support of the Fulbright Academic Exchange Program. Founded in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the oldest and most prestigious international exchange program for scholars and students funded by the Government of the United States of America.

Yuliia Herneho worked on the project titled "Investing in Green Innovations: American Experience for Post-War Recovery in Ukraine" at the State University of New York at Potsdam (SUNY Potsdam, NY). Founded in 1816, the State University of New York at Potsdam is one of the first 50 colleges in the US and the oldest institution within the State University of New York system.

The research project led by Yuliia Herneho aimed to develop a comprehensive scientific framework to further boost investments in green innovations within the context of Ukraine's post-war recovery, drawing on the best sustainable finance practices of American investors. The project is designed to strengthen the position of green innovators by enhancing knowledge and skills regarding the benefits of integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards into investment activities.

During her fellowship and research, Prof. Yuliia Herneho also had the opportunity to attend a number of scientific events in other US cities. In particular, she had the privilege of presenting her research at a Fulbright session in New York City—at One World Trade Center—where she discussed her findings with scholars and experts from various countries. This experience helped expand international academic networks, gather valuable feedback, and shape new ideas for future research.

Additionally, she had a wonderful opportunity to attend the annual conference at the Center on Forced Displacement (CFD) at Boston University (BU), where she presented a poster co-authored with Prof. Yevheniia Polishchuk and Prof. Rok Zunin-Vasovic.

The practical and academic experience gained during the fellowship will be utilized to prepare teaching and curriculum materials for several courses: "Sustainable Development Finance and Investment" (for undergraduate/bachelor students of the "Investment Business and Financial Markets" and "Corporate Finance" programs) and "ESG Project Financing" (for graduate/master students of the "Investment Business" and "Corporate Finance and Controlling" programs).
