1959 - graduated from Economics Faculty of the KFEI.

1964 – graduated from Finance Faculty of the Leningrad Finance and Economics Institute.

1964 - defended the thesis for PhD degree.

1980-1982 – Senior Fellow of the Kiev National Economy Institute.

1985 – defended the thesis for Professor degree.

The head master of program "Insurance Management", Doctor of Economics, and Professor Osadets Simon. He is the founder and the first head (2002-2010) of the Insurance Department. He works in the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman from 1977. Under his direct supervision was introduced Ukraine's first master's program "Insurance Management", published first in Ukraine textbooks labeled with Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine: "Insurance" (through three editions), "Insurance services", "Insurance Management". He was sold at the head of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman Tacis project "Establishment of the Ukrainian Center for training of the insurance market."

Professor Osadets S. S. prepared 1 doctor and 11 PhD candidates. He is the supervisor of 3 doctoral students and 3 graduate students. He is the author and co-author of about 180 scientific and methodological publications, including 4 monographs and 5 textbooks. The total length of scientific and pedagogical work is 50 years.

During the period in the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman performed such public assignments: the Member of the Academic Council and the Finance and Economics Department; the Member of the academic councils of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman and the Institute of Agrarian Economics; the Member of the subcommittee "Finance and Credit",  Scientific and Methodological Commission of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Member of the Expert Council for Insurance under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine ,the Member of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine, the Member of the expert council of VAK Ukraine in Economic Sciences, the Member of the editorial boards of the journal "Bulletin of the National Bank of Ukraine", "Finance Ukraine", magazine "Insurance Business" (Moscow city), Scientific Bulletin CEU "Economy and Science", Scientific Journal of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman "Finance, accounting and auditing".

 Over many years of dedicated and fruitful work Semyon Stepanovich has two government medals. He was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman", also he was awarded the gratitude of the Cabinet of Ukraine, diplomas of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Committee of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, Diploma of the National Commission of Financial Services Markets State Regulation, the League of Ukraine’s Insurance Organizations and other institutions.

He is the winner of "Prize of the Alexander Sosisa" for achievements in educational and research activities. He has the title of "Honored Worker of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Hetman".
